Description:
Residential Development of two units, basement for an office space and a retail unit on the ground floor.
Notes:
The massing of the extended area to the rear of a high street corner property was developed and sculptured based on minimising the right of light of neighbouring properties as well as the affect on the amenity.
Concept:
The overall shape and geometry of the new roof on the rear roof slope is an appropriate feature that creates a valid dialogue with an Edwardian building, as it is much more in keeping with that period than would be the case with a skylight. The building’s primary significant elements – the front elevation and corner turret – are unaffected by the proposed alterations, which taken together will enable the continuing productive occupation of the upper floors for the residential use for which they were originally designed.
Interior:
The units are simple and have an open plan for the kitchen and the living areas.
