“the challenge was to have a contemporary extension in a conservation area whilst adhering to local planning constraints.”
Pablo Lambrechts
Where: Ham, Richmond upon Thames, London, Greater London, UK
Description: Extension of semi-basement for a family room, kitchen and utility area, as well as a first-floor extension for office space and balcony space.
Notes: Contemporary upgrade and extension of a locally listed Victorian House in a Conservation Area. The brief for this project was to create an outstanding design that integrates all spaces but at the same time allows for privacy between the social areas and the private areas.
Concept: to consolidate a series of extensions at the rear of the property and to further extend under a contemporary approach, cladding the rear with sustainable charred wood and creating a green roof terrace.
Interior: the palette of materials is constituted by natural, noble and simple materials creating a natural flow between the traditional and original areas to the contemporary ones linked to the outdoor space.
